Martin Mpanga Ssengendo
In 1995, Martin Mpanga comes back after finishing his education in London in order to join the struggle. CSH sets up its adult literacy and vocational programs in Kiwangala which to date has benefited thousands of community members.
Moses Kiwala mubiru
Moses Kiwala Mubiru founded the organisation in 1993 and then the land was provided by the government. He moved to Kiwangala to work with these children. Many people in the Masaka- district are infected with, or died of HIV/AIDS. Furthermore there are many child headed families, CSH provides guidance to them. People who live in this area are usually laid back, when it comes to improvement of the situation. CSH wants to give some improvement for this situation by starting a school for the very poor people. Moses started by telling the people in the village, that he wanted to teach the children. In a very short time there were 1500 children. Two third of these children were orphans or had only one parent. The government provided free education. Only the children who didn’t have the money for books, uniforms or transport, stayed. Through the care for the children the CSH staff got to see also a need to take care for the elderly. Now CSH has started up community outreach programs to help the elderly with housing, first aid, medicine use, washing/personal hygiene for example. |
